We were approached by a new client in York to refurbish their newly acquired 6000sq.ft office space. The open plan style office has been transformed with new ceilings, flooring and partitioning to name but a few.
The Design Brief
Following the acquisition of a substantial 6,000 sq. ft. workspace in York, our client appointed Rodley Interiors Ltd to manage a comprehensive “top-to-bottom” refurbishment. The primary objective was to breathe new life into a dated environment, bringing it up to a modern, high-spec standard within a strict 6-week timeline and a £75k budget.
The project scope covered every aspect of the interior, from structural partitioning and electrical infrastructure to the final aesthetic touches and furniture installation.
The Transformation
To modernise the expansive floor plate, we replaced tired, traditional ceiling tiles with sleek 600mm x 600mm metal lay-in tiles, integrated with high-efficiency LED lighting. This was paired with new Duraflor Checkstar carpet tiles to freshen the aesthetic across the entire office.
Beyond the surface finishes, we managed a full suite of mechanical and electrical works, including data cabling and decoration of all exterior-facing walls. To support the modern workforce, we also designed and installed a bespoke breakout area and fully equipped office kitchens.
Key project features included:
- Flooring: Duraflor Checkstar carpet tiles for durability and style.
- Ceilings: Modern Metal Pan lay-in tiles.
- Reception: A bespoke reception desk finished in White and Oak, complemented by comfortable visitor seating.
- Breakout Area: White laminate tables with Oak edging and vibrant, fabric-covered breakfast bar seating.

Product Spotlight: Frameless Glass Partitioning
A standout feature of this York project was the installation of frameless glass partitioning at the entrance to the main office. This was designed to create a clear division between the reception and work zones without sacrificing natural light flow.
We utilised a “barely-there” dry glazing system to ensure the transition felt seamless and open.
- Glazing: Full-height frameless glass with a matching double door.
- Hardware: Sophisticated black aluminium framework and back-to-back glass “T” handles.
- Privacy & Safety: Two rows of 50mm “Opal Frost” manifestation banding.
- Security: Integrated Magna Locks with a secure key-fob entry system.
The Result:
A frameless glass installation provides a cost-effective way to divide large areas while maintaining an airy, collaborative feel. By using this system, our client successfully defined their workspace zones while maximising the reach of natural light across the 6,000 sq. ft. floor.
